Okay, tossing in the towel on this one with a DNF. I probably could finish it, it's sophomoric and immature (Austen's first penned novel and last published, posthumously if I recall correctly, and for good reason.) My favorite Austen novel and one I've read multiple times is Sense and Sensibility, honestly, I'd rather reread it than trudge through Northanger Abbey just to say I did. There is no shame in walking away from a book, for either of us. Perhaps another time it will ring true for me, but this is not that time. Lord knows I've done it to Brothers Karamazov at least three times.
