2.5The book was entertaining, the plot had a nice bit of suspense, and the transitions were done in a unique manner; that all said, the reader was kept at a full arms-length, some dialogue was stilted and the characters were not quite flushed out enough. The sex scenes are earthy and frank with very mild D/s elements, voyeurism. Dawn does a nice job of titillating the reader, but the distance from the characters makes it seem less engaging. Surprising sweet for something that keeps hinting at darker elements.
