Club Shadowlands (Masters of the Shadowlands, #1) - Cherise Sinclair Talk about preconceived notions being all wrong. I heard about Sinclair and decided I wanted to read one of her books so I decided to start at the beginning of the series. Logical, right? I was expecting the bdsm, but the amount of emphasis on the emotional rather than the bells and whistles pleasantly surprised me. Two real people in a non-traditional setting that is depicted quite sweetly. I personally enjoy reading from the perspective of the male in these types of D/s stories; it allows the author to reveal the humanity beneath the Dom instead of turning him into an emotionless monster. Excellent job of eliciting both types of connection with the protags. Looking forward to the next.
