Tower in the Woods - Tara Quan A lonely sentry imprisoned in her outpost makes a decision that changes everything.I lIke this play off of the Rapunzel fairy tale. I mean, who would think of zombies and a feminist cult in a post-apocalyptic world. It pits a virginal heroine fighting an outdated lost cause against an alpha male on a mission and hordes of the undead. While the set up between the Nel and Dane are established and their lines of allegiance are drawn something emerges. Nel wants to grab something for herself while Dane is valiantly trying to resist the urge to plunder. Now, here is where the problem in the story is for me, and it demonstrates the awkward manner in which their first sexual interactions are incongruently old-fashioned. Even the language used is dated, which in no way resembles the manner or language used in the final love scene and makes Dane appear to be a Jekyll/Hyde personality.Favorite quote:“You might think I’m some sort of brainwashed nitwit, but the concept of duty and honor are something my feeble female brain is more than capable of understanding."~~ A copy was provided to me for a No Glitter Blown review~~Reviewed for Hearts On Fire Reviews
