Untitled (Masters of the Shadowlands, #7) - Cherise Sinclair Deep psychological probing right from the start with doubts and self-loathing--not my favorite place to be. Sinclair does a wonderful job making a world that seems so strange and unimaginable to people exploring their sexuality that it is understandable and good. That means patience when reading. Things are going to be explained several times so the reader understands the concepts.Linda's tireless litany of mental self-abuse is a bit trying. Honestly, my patience started to run out quickly. I think part of that was due to the fact that after reading about Sam briefly in other stories, I really wanted it. Sinclair writes a woman's story not a man's and readjusting my hopes and expectations was hard. I'd really looked forward to Sam's story, a strong, loving SM exploration, but I'm stuck in the mind of a chronically unsure woman. *Deep sigh*Bellybutton lint picking. The questioning and requestioning of both Linda and Sam's motifs for behaviors that goes on for pages S_L_O_W_S------D_O_W_N the story. And there are way too many characters stories being told in this book. While I love many of the characters from previous books, I don't need 100 pages of updates littered through the middle of Sam and Linda's story. I know some readers like it--I Don't. For those familiar with the series, one of the major arcs finds its resolution in this story. Probably happy with that since the suspense plot was getting a bit heavy and overdone in my opinion. Plus, I don't want it to be cluttering up Sally's story with the Feds. I hope. With more judicious editing of the content and not casting the net so wide I would have been much happier with this story.Recommended for Shadowlands' fansFavorite quote:“Think about it.
